Beez and I ran a tongue-in-cheek Communist-themed campaign because: A. Beez had run as a joke Commie before to comedic effect, I thought it’d be fun to reference that; B. The stream was being trolled by Nazis at the time — and Nazis hate no one worse than Commies. Nazis detest being reminded of how the USSR whipped their precious Fuhrer’s ass on the Eastern Front. It’s one thing their ideology of “Aryan superiority” really doesn’t have an answer for. So, I trolled them back with hammers & sickles as a way of rubbing their face in it.

Was your insane communist ravings mere theater as we assumed at the time (like Richard chill mustard memes: not 100% serious) or something more sinister?

Hitler’s image can certainly be used to ridicule Hitler himself or Nazism in general. Just like when you see Donald Trump’s face on PoliticsTOO, we probably aren’t saying nice things about him.

If someone’s using Hitler memes to actually advocate Nazism - then yeah, that’s a problem. But you could also use MLP memes to advocate Nazism. The internet is a wide and strange place, I’m sure someone has.

The problem is in the underlying ideology, not the meme subject.

I will defend people’s rights to use Stalin or Hitler or Mao or Castro or any other dictator in history in an informative or parodic sense. Just like your chart above.
