i dont support lgbt but i still love my lgbt neighbors and maybe one day they will turn away from it what i dont like is this "oppressed" propoganda

It’s difficult to change people’s feelings on this if they really, truly think being LGBTQ is a “sin.” Plenty of religious conservatives fall into that category. The Bible does say it’s a sin, after all. Technically.

The Bible also says greed and lust and dishonoring your parents and all kinds of other things that often aren’t politicized to nearly the degree of LGBTQ are sins — and a lot of other really weird rules in Deuteronomy and other Old Testament books if you go looking.

But, if you hold those anti-LGBTQ feelings privately, it’s different than if you’re going out and actively harassing LGBTQ people.

Similarly, worth noting it’s wrong for LGBTQ people and their allies to harass conservative Christians that are otherwise minding their own business.

so what is your religious view on this? im christian and god calls this an act of disrespect(lgbtq+) but i still love on those who are lost(lgbtq+)

so you cant politicize lgbtq bcuz in the bible it clearly states lgbtq and homosexuality is an act of crime against God. So put politics aside does god say this is right?

i also HATE being called a homophobe bcuz i like people of the opposite gender and dissaprove of there acts (again NOT HARRASSING)

I think the Bible is a sprawling, 2000-year-old book full of internal contradictions and rules that no longer make sense. It’s not possible for any modern person, gay or straight, to follow all of them all of the time.

I don’t take 100% of the Bible as the literal word of God, because if you did, then God would be a lunatic, and I don’t believe that. It is more likely that some passages of the Bible were written by lunatics and erroneously included.

God may have at one point in history called upon men to take their brother’s widow as their own wife. (Deuteronomy 25:5). However, I don’t believe that is God’s word anymore.

The Biblical messages that resonate with me, and which were most emphasized by Jesus Christ, are these: love, charity, humility, brotherhood, forgiveness, and compassion. All of those things are timeless, relevant to the modern world, and we need them now more than ever.

Tl;dr I think fixating on the sin of homosexuality, if it even is still a sin, isn’t a proper interpretation of the Bible.

but you cant cut out a piece of the bible and call it the bible. the whole is the bible WRITTEN BY GOD.
