I’m still confused on HCP’s VP, whether it’s Danny or Jeb_Zero.

It's Danny, Jeb decided he didn't want the position.

Just a reminder that Kylie Minogue’s career was based on her stealing the Locomotion from Little Eva, an African American singer.

Grand Funk Railroad already pumped out some hits like “We’re an American Band” before their version of the Locomotion was released. They didn’t launch their careers off of it like Minogue did. It’s the same reason I don’t criticize Kim Wilde for taking “You Keep Me Hanging On” from the Supremes, she already established herself with “Kids in America”. Little Eva and the Supremes definitely deserve some royalties from GFR and Kim Wilde, but Minogue building her career off of Little Eva’s work while Little Eva was left to die in poverty was much more egregious.

Gosh man. It’s a cover song. I think you’re overthinking it. She didn’t start systemic racism in the music industry and she ain’t gonna fix it either. Beyond even that is simple predation on talent. Black or white or any-color artists, cheated by record labels and execs, it happens. Every industry has sharks and music is no exception.

Kylie herself was a cog in the SAW machine (British pop music factory that produced Rick Astley, etc.) until she left after four albums to pursue her own artistry… the rest is history :)

So I guess Black Lives don’t matter when Kylie Minogue is at stake. Just goes to show Minogue’s white privilege. And here you are defending her: I thought you were supposed to be an ally of the cause? Or you only support them when they are going after things you approve of them going after.

Lol. I think white artists can cover black artists, black artists can cover white artists, that there’s no such thing as “black” and “white” music — and I’m not eager to toss out SJW buzzwords like problematic and cultural appropriation when talking about such subjects.

I’m immune to your Tucker Carlson-style “own the libz” rants!

I believe music brings people together. It tears down the boundaries that divide us in everyday life.

Just ask Jimi Hendrix! (Famously covered Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower”)

And the National Anthem :)

“ and I’m not eager to toss out SJW buzzwords like problematic and cultural appropriation when talking about such subjects.”

Yet you do it for every other topic. What’s so different about this one? Oh yeah, you’re standing against the African American who died in poverty to support the multimillionaire Aussie.

“ there’s no such thing as “black” and “white” music”

Pretty sure there’s a whole ton of rappers who would disagree. “bUt eMInEm!” Eminem is rap for kids from suburbia who think just because they don’t get everything they ask for from Mom and Dad that they must be ghetto or something.

“I’m immune to your Tucker Carlson-style “own the libz” rants!”

Keep telling yourself that, maybe eventually it will become true.

“Just ask Jimi Hendrix! (Famously covered Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower”)”

Again, Jimi Hendrix already had a successful music career long before he covered that song. Kylie Minogue got her music career started stealing the Locomotion from Little Eva and went on to become a multimillionaire while Little Eva died in poverty. This isn’t rocket science, it’s a pretty easy concept to understand.

“And the National Anthem :)”

A song already in the public domain and that most singers have sung at least one point in their career.
