My guess when i was little was that it came as an insulting variant for the word "negro", the Spanish word for "black." But idrk about how it was created.

Yeah, I've basically avoided all of that until last year when i realized that the public stance was being manipulated and geared in a specific direction. Then i started studying and learning about different world ideas.
