Remarkable how you completely overlook all of Trump's attempts to corrupt the DOJ to serve his political interests while in office, beginning with Sessions and concluding with Rosen. Unlike Barr, however, those two mostly refused to comply.
During Sessions tenure, Trump publically and privately pressured him to go after his political enemies, various employees of the FBI and DOJ, go easy on his allies and put a stop to the Mueller investigation, among other things. When Sessions refused to go along with Trump's demands, stating "While I am Attorney General, the actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations" Trump was furious and ultimately fired him due to being insufficiently "loyal".
During Barr's reign, his ethical breaches in subordinating the DOJ to Trump's political desires are too numerous to list herein, so I refer you to his Wikipedia page, particularly sections 2.6 - 2.9 for a partial, though non-exhaustive, listing of such. In short, he basically did Trump's bidding in everyway possible, ranging from deliberately misrepresenting facts to the public and the courts, intervening in DOJ investigations pertaining to Trump allies to reduce sentencing (Roger Stone, etc) and/or prevent prosecutions altogether (as in the case of 5 of Trump's cabinet members - Zinke, Acosta, Wilkie, Chao & Ross - who were each investigated by applicable IGs for corrupt practices and referred to the DOJ for potential criminal prosecution, which Barr declined to pursue), among many other things. He also went so far as to stoke mistrust in the 2020 election both prior to and immediately after it until he finally publically admitted (just prior to his resignation), all claims had been thorougly investigated and NO evidence of mass election fraud existed. It's not surprising he's currently facing potential disbarment due to his actions as AG.
Once Barr was gone, new pressure was immediately applied to acting AG Rosen by Mark Meadows to investigate unsubstantiated conspiracy claims about a 'stolen election' and mass voter fraud in the swing states, going so far as to ludicrously claim Italian satellites had been weaponized to manipulate U.S. voting machine counts. Rosen refused to do so, as prior DOJ investigations and dozens of court cases failed to ever produce evidence such.
Seems to me, the current DOJ is weeding out all the corruption and trying to undo the damage Trump inflicted on them during his Presidency.
