I never compared gays to nazis. I just used an example during a debate. I gave Envoy proof of LGBTQ stream members attacking IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS, and he said “that was over a year ago” and I responded “so if the nazis were beaten years ago that means they’re cool now” as a way to criticise his logic of disregarding bad behaviour because of how long ago it happened. But yeah I definitely never meant to say gays are like nazis.

Indeed — I care about LGBTQ. A lot. One of the reasons I got back involved here on this stream after taking a break (and I’m talking a loooooong time ago, not my most recent return).

I was strolling through this stream one day and saw a user by the name of “WhiteNationalist” (his first alt, I assume), who was a seeming front-runner to win the upcoming election, consolidating support, gaining endorsements, etc. It blew my mind that this could be happening.

I stepped in like many others at the time and threw my support behind a relatively new memer, LaChancla, whose campaign pitch was generally about stopping bullying and ensuring TOS compliance.

I served in that government as a Congressperson and supported LaChancla against impeachment during his term — I then ended my participation here under the next government when I felt that homophobic memers (yes, IncognitoGuy) were allowed to compete here. I didn’t feel that an avowed anti-LGBTQ person could credibly claim to represent all of Imgflip. So I left, and founded a stream called Government that was explicitly pro-LGBTQ, and did that for awhile.

Later, I came back and ran on a ticket with Beez_Kneez, and our campaign was focused to a large extent on LGBTQ rights and, again, keeping WhiteNationalist out. Since WN was again still attacking this stream with alts and had another Neo-Nazi friend called MoonMan.

I came back recently because it appeared to me that WN was finally gone for good, and the government was taking a stand against toxicity. I disagree with IncognitoGuy on things, certainly. But it seems this stream is no longer being used in any sense to push bigotry. It seems the WhiteNat wars have educated us all on these topics and made us all more mature and seasoned mods.

I hope we can look past the current drama and recognize that.
