The push to create “equity” and more “social justice” in public schools in America’s largest state rests on this basic premise:
“We REJECT THE IDEA OF NATURAL GIFTS AND TALENT” declares the current draft of the California Math Framework
Informed by that fundamental idea, the 800-page Framework calls for the elimination of accelerated classes and gifted programs for high-achieving students until at least the 11th grade.
The chief proponent of this "woke" Math Framework is one Jo Boaler, who is a "professor" of math education at Stanford University. Boaler, a White liberal of course, who notes that “the subject and community of math has a history of exclusion and filtering rather than inclusion and welcoming.” Likely these are also the words of this liberal mad person in this framework...."Girls and black and brown children notably receive messages that they are not capable of high level mathematics compared to their white and male counterparts.”
But who are giving these kids these message....NOT THE CONSERVATIVES because the teachers in America are OVERWHELMINGLY DEMOCRATS!
Popular among "woke" White liberal teachers is also this "woke" and absolutely erroneous statement: “One must acknowledge that mathematics is part of a societal system that is inherently racist,” and so they propose this totally unnecessary “anti-racist math.”
Which will absolutely mean that math in America will only get vastly worse, but this will be great for these liberal woke teacher because they know minimal math and chose new teacher based on their party affiliation and liberal beliefs! And that is why they will kick and scream with frantic hysteria whenever it is propose that teachers take an annual math evaluating test.
The Framework completely ignores the fact that the major math departments at American colleges and universities include conspicuously large numbers of people of Asian ancestry and only a relatively small number of American-born members. For example, Princeton math department is roughly FOUR-FIFTHS foreign born, with many of its faculty and graduate students coming from East/South Asia, & the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. This alone would send a powerful message that math, like other scientific fields, does not “operate as whiteness.”
Paradoxically, when California phases out classes for gifted math students, it will be massively be affecting Asians....they very minorities that it is being proposed to help!
