I'm not trying to offend anyone here, but my father told me that when he was in Mesa AZ in the 80s, lots of the native americans preferred to be called indians because the term "native american" was so broad that it could mean people all the way down into Peru. To me, indians (not Asian) are the people in the United States (or descended from them) who lived here before us.
