In which Taylor Swift analyzes a case of alleged hate speech. | You need to chill down That’s how my song goes, right? | image tagged in taylor swift you need to calm down | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Everyone here knows I’m no fan of IncognitoGuy and his views on the LGBTQ community and the like — and his attacking Envoy was in poor taste — so know that I’m in no way being biased toward IG when I say this.

RichardChill’s posting of Irish Republican Army-themed imagery and organizing a terrorist or militia group called the “IRA” here. That crap crossed a line.

Richard knows IG is a British guy. He could have chosen any terrorist or liberation army in the world to represent his idea of a roleplay terrorist group. Instead, he chose the IRA — a terrorist group that opposes Britain and has actually taken British lives.

Knowingly or unknowingly to him, he chose to do so at a time when Brexit has injected more political instability into the tense Irish/Northern Irish situation than it has had in decades.

Under such circumstances, menacing a political adversary with such targeted imagery crosses a line into hate speech, harassment, cyberbullying, just plain wrong, whatever term you’d like to call it.

Richard’s a smart enough guy to know how IncognitoGuy would react to this. Called out for it, Richard chose only to double, triple, quadruple down on “u mad bro” style shitposts. The failure to show any remorse whatsoever is an aggravating factor.

I’m no longer up to speed on all the formal processes here, but such conduct deserves a lot more than a 5-day slap on the wrist. More like a 1-month ban at least. Richard keeps doing these provocations because he’s confident he can get away with it. It has to stop somewhere.

I wish this stream were more often about actual ideas to improve Imgflip for everybody rather than the painstaking litigation of what is and isn’t hate speech, but here we are.

Tl;dr Richard, you need to chill down.

And now I’m out. Good luck with the government — peace! ✌️

*Chill out

And as R. Lee Ermey said, "Jesus H Christ."

"Richard’s a smart enough guy to know how IncognitoGuy would react to this. Called out for it, Richard chose only to double, triple, quadruple down on “u mad bro” style shitposts. The failure to show any remorse whatsoever is an aggravating factor." Doesn't that call for racism as that proves your second point right:

"Richard knows IG is a British guy. He could have chosen any terrorist or liberation army in the world to represent his idea of a roleplay terrorist group. Instead, he chose the IRA — a terrorist group that opposes Britain and has actually taken British lives."

Basically yeah. “British” is a nationality — a plan to flagrantly target that aspect is national origin discrimination.

It’s the equivalent of someone running an Andrew Jackson-themed campaign against a Native American, a Nazi campaign against a Jewish person, a Harvey Weinstein campaign against a woman, etc etc.

I, as a very Irish ancestry person (More than 50% of my non-American part), agree

What’s funny about this whole situation is that I have some distant Irish ancestry myself (I’m Catholic for a reason lol). But still, I am mostly English, I was born and raised in England until my teen years, and I am proud to be an Englishman. I respect Richard’s right to free speech, so he can post disgusting anti-English memes if he pleases, but that is not appropriate for a Congressman and supporting terrorism crosses the damn line.

Eyyyyy London | image tagged in london bridge union jack | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Right! The British Isles have been continuously inhabited for millennia, invaded by outsiders at various points, and there has been a lot of internal mixing and migration. Ancestry-wise, it’s hard to draw borders.

Add to that the fact Britain of course became a global empire, and a lot of the people they encountered eventually found their way back to the Isles.

I took a DNA test one time and it placed most of my ancestry right on top of London — the rest smattered about the British Isles, and some more strewn around the European continent. London is one of the most globalized cities in the world, and has been for centuries. One has to wonder what being “from London” really means.

I understand all this puts you in an awkward position being such a staunch free speech advocate, but I understand why you were upset by this.

Most of my ancestry comes from the British Isles. I also have a Scottish surname and a Welsh Great-Grandfather.

But I would argue this situation does not stop me being a free speech advocate. I believe Richard can post as many disgusting anti-English memes as he likes as long as they don’t threaten anyone or support terrorism. But Richard has threatened me and supported terrorism, and that violates the NAP.

i agree for the most part. richard screwed up and he needs to answer for that, and btw i meant the 5 days to be a starting point for talking abt a discussion on what is an appropriate punishment.

anyway thanks for leaving this comment i feel it might help in ending some drama.

Congress already voted with a landslide supermajority to permanently impeach RichardChill24, so a permanent impeachment is the most appropriate punishment.

you didn’t really give any other options...

Judging by the overwhelming approval of the impeachment by Congress, I have a feeling they were perfectly content with the option I provided.

judging by the fact that richard didn’t even get a chance to mount a defense i have a feeling the results weren’t perfectly accurate.

Everything I saw from Richard suggested he wasn’t really interested at all in mounting a defense. Just telling people “u mad?” over and over and over.

He came back with the GreenieMeanie alt(!) and said some crap about it just being a joke, everyone else is a crybaby, etc., and posted a dang GLOBAL MOD Memechat without permission.

That’s the best quality “defense” I ever saw him make, and it was still crap. My humble opinion.

I don’t see a bunch of folks storming to his aid, so we can assume it fell flat.

that’s how richard is tbh . i’m not defending richard in any sense i just feel a lighter punishment is necessary then what some are suggesting.

It’s how Richard is, and that’s why he keeps causing conflict again and again and again.
1 up, 3y,

also if we banned people for starting conflict we wouldn’t have much of a government anymore.
2 ups, 3y
Congress voted that this was a particular kind of conflict that isn’t allowed.

well congress also voted with no evidence provided
2 ups, 3y
We don’t know that they didn’t look at evidence before voting.

Everything IG relied upon in his ultimate briefing about this was public. Everything! Anyone following and scrolling through the stream could have seen it all. Whether or not IG collected and presented it himself.

We use the language of “trial” but the truth is those who voted are also witnesses to all this in real time, if they’ve been following the stream, and if they’re part of the government they should have been.

one of the problems is some of y’all take this rp too seriously, and so when richard doesn’t take it as serious y’all flip out. not saying richard is handling drama any better then anyone else but sometimes we gotta be the bigger man and chill out.
1 up, 3y
We can’t legislate all conflict out of life or politics, nor should we, but we can curb the worst of it.

That’s of course a “serious” statement. I guess I just by nature look at things seriously, and that’s how I am 🤷‍♂️

From what I’m up to speed on, it seems voters chose IG who is also a “serious” person so I can only assume they wanted to go in that direction.

we all know congress is very inactive and aren’t viewing the the events live lol, some have probably.
2 ups, 3y
You got a point there. I couldn’t tell ya who’s all on Congress. Only been back here 24 hours, but they certainly don’t seem to be here.

RC’s replacement Lib_Terds_Suck? What the hell are his qualifications to be here other than I assume being a right-wing partisan hack based on his screenname?

But if he’s not actively menacing British people with IRA dudes in ski masks then I can only assume he’d actually make a better Congressman than Richard.

“Do-nothing Congress” has been a thing for awhile, not sure why people agree to take that role and then do nothing.
0 ups, 3y
well that’s sorts of the thing, it’s a role play, ppl should be able to do it as serious or silly as they want, and not be banned for that.
