How do you reconcile supporting Trump with his peddling lies about the election?
I understand the appeal of certain Republican policies — lower taxes, anti-gun control, anti-abortion, pro-military, pro-church, etc. — but these are policies that are broadly backed by most everyone in the GOP. Even the despised “anti-Trumpers.”
Yet there seems to be virtually no discussion right now on whether anyone else other than Trump can lead the Republican Party. This is highly unusual. Most defeated Presidential candidates are scorned by their Party after a defeat — Hillary Clinton certainly was.
Instead, Trump has broken the rules and continued to defy political gravity by insisting he was the “real winner” in spite of all evidence to the contrary.
Those of us looking at it from the outside see a cult — whatever other appeal the Republican platform might otherwise have — and a profound threat to democracy.
What do you think about all that? Are we wrong?
