I think you're falling into the trap that a lot of us fall into, which is lumping all republicans into the same little box. I would say that liberals are more prone to it, but clearly republicans do it as well.
In other words, not all republicans have the same views on this issue. I think you'd find that republicans have varying opinions on this. I could be generalizing myself, but I think those with religious faith tend to fall more into the category you've described.
There are plenty who have pretty much the same fiscal views that Jenner has, and that's why she'd earn their vote. That's a big reason why she could earn my vote. (it's too early to pick a candidate, imo) Personally, I don't care about her status as a trans woman. Not only because it's none of my business, but I doubt it would have any impact on her views about how the govt should be run.
