First, that is not true. All states have background and other requirements for a legal gun purchase. Second, the second amendment guarantees the right to own a gun and legislation, statewide and nationally, define disqualifications from retaining that right.

So you DON'T want to identify the criminals and hold them accountable? You can't sell guns to them and then complain about accountability - that straight-up doesn't make sense.

How in the world did you conclude that?

Your meme is complaining about the criminals who commit gun violence, not the guns themselves. But they're able to buy a gun completely legally even with a criminal record in many states. How is that holding them accountable? Surely, suspending their gun ownership priviliges - THAT would be holding them to account?

Where do you live that a felon has the "right" to own a gun?

That's why we have things like civil/criminal courts and prisons to hold people accountable when they abuse their Rights. Shoot a person trying to kill you, then it ain't a problem. Shoot someone in the middle of the street for no damn reason then go to jail for a long time.

So why would you ever want to sell a gun to the person who'll shoot someone for no damn reason?

Basic civics lesson for you thesis; freedom comes with consequences. You have the freedom to buy a gun. (at least you should...) What you don't have is the freedom to "shoot someone for no damn reason", right? That's where the consequences come in.

I'm not even clear why you're attacking berry2690 by saying he/she "DON'T want to identify the criminals and hold them accountable", since the meme pretty much only talks about the human aspect of this issue, and holding criminals accountable.

I don't know where you've been buying your guns, thesis, but it's not that way here in Taxifornia. We have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world.

Yet, we still have gun crimes, including mass shootings.

Obviously the answer is more of the same restrictive laws!
