And now we have archconservative American self-proclaimed “Catholics” with enough righteous chutzpah to thumb their noses at the Pope himself.

Yes, everyone’s in the building now!

But can your pea pod squeeze one more?

Bold position to take!

I’m going to go out on a limb and theorize that the past millennium-plus of Catholic history is riddled with examples of various branches who have had disagreements of whatever kind with the Pope or with the Vatican.

What often ends up happening, in the long run, is they are no longer Catholic. Through excommunication, voluntary withdrawal, or otherwise. This article references just one of those splits.

Henry VIII’s split from the Catholic Church to found the Church of England is another one, and would be analogous to a situation where a certain segment of archconservative American bishops decided to go their own way and found a new Rock upon Mar-A-Lago or wherever their true spiritual home is.

It could happen! Crazier things have!

In the long run, who sorts it out? History does!

But historically speaking, trying to out-Catholic the Pope is a bold gamble!

"Bold position to take!"

Perks of being an atheist. If Pope Francis gets his panties in a bunch because of what I have to say and tries to excommunicate me or something, I don't really care.

If the Pope and other Church officials want to carry water for someone who is in violation of Church doctrine, then they're going to be criticized for it, simple as that. And as for who I'm going to defer to regarding the teachings of the Catholic Church, the actual Catholic or the atheist who created this steam specifically to spite the actual Catholic, I'm going to defer to the actual Catholic.

Projection much? Lol. I have dozens of streams and haven’t created any of them out of spite.

KTG coming here and throwing a fit about what she thinks “real Catholicism” is — and you backing her up as an admitted atheist who knows even less about these topics — doesn’t change that. This stream isn’t about y’all. Never was.

Anyone coming here without their own preconceived biases can see this is a stream that promotes middle-of-the-road, tolerant, non-bigoted and welcoming Catholicism. A Catholicism that welcomes people into the House of the Lord, not that makes efforts to build higher and higher gates.

The kind of Catholicism favored by significant figures in Christian history, from Jesus to Pope Francis.

Perhaps you’ve heard of them?

I was raised in a Catholic family. I am very familiar with the Church's teachings and rituals, having participated in them myself. Kate was a literal nun. You are an atheist who hasn't shown any prior knowledge or experience with the Church and appear to be distorting the teachings of the Church to push for your far left agenda. Needless to say, we have more experience and knowledge of Catholicism than you do and it's not even close.

Two seconds of looking at this stream says otherwise. One image attacking the Supreme Court for siding with Catholics over LGBTs, another complaining about Republicans and tax cuts, and three images sucking up to the creepy old man named Joe Biden. It's clear this stream's goal is to push your leftist agenda, not to promote Catholicism. The funny thing is if you were just honest from the start that this is about pushing politics, we would not be arguing right now. Hell, I agree with you on the Supreme Court ruling and trickle down economics. But you chose to go the route of being dishonest to push a creepy authoritarian ideology, so here we go again.

"The kind of Catholicism favored by significant figures in Christian history, from Jesus to Pope Francis.

As far as significant figures in Christian history, Pope Francis isn't exactly in the majority. Many more Popes held more traditional beliefs and stuck to what the Church's teachings are for nearly 2000 years. What's more he did little to deal with the horny priest issue until public pressure forced his hand. Kate would never do that, she would have gone after the priests if she were Pope, so yeah, she's more Catholic than Pope Francis. Even Jesus's sacrifice was not the Get Out of Jail Free card you seem to think it is; it's not an excuse to go forth and sin without consequences. You still have to try and be a pious person in the eyes of God as God is still your final judge.

Lol! More silly hypos!

Throwing stones at Jesus would never benefit Leftist ideology. Because Jesus was a Leftist! A bigger Leftist than I. I think moneylenders serve an important function in a modern economy, but He wasn’t a fan.

He often discussed inversions of the social order (“the meek shall inherit the earth,” Matthew 5:5) and distributed free universal healthcare in the form of miracles. He was very against the concept of hoarding wealth. (Matthew 19:24.) TBH He was a proto-Communist: the best way to make sense of His economic philosophy, such as it was.

Jesus made some gestures to the established powers-that-be (“render unto Ceasar what is Caesar’s,” Mark 12:17; “I have not come to abolish the law or the prophets,” Matthew 5:17), but it wasn’t enough. He was perceived (rightly) as a threat to Rome and the Pharisees, and therefore, He had to die.

Anywho. These and similar streams aim to situate Jesus, Christianity, and the Catholic Church in their proper light, stripped of modern socially and economically conservative dogma. If that ruffles feathers, I don’t care. We will not be posting baphomets with STDs scribbled all over them or however the hell you are supposed to attack a subject in meme form.

It’s axiomatic that a stream about Catholicism can say nice things about both the Pope and the world’s most prominent secular leader who is a Catholic.

So, we will.

So, Jews are colored sometimes and white other times, depending on what the left is arguing? Interesting.

Also, comparing leftism to Jesus' teachings is straight blasphemy. He didn't demand the state that killed him redistribute people's wealth. The greatest gift from God and from Jesus is our agency, and anything that takes that away is of the devil. He teaches that certain things are wrong, such as usury (moneylending), but a government trying to force people to do one thing or another is no better than Satan trying to take our agency away in the beginning.

The pope has thumbed his nose plenty of times at all Catholics, I respect him as the leader of the Church but I have no respect for his position and him cozying up to so called in name only Catholics like Biden, Pelosi et al.

The Eucharist is our most valued treasure we have a duty to protect it from those who make a mockery of the Church. Bishops and priests more concerned with PR are not true shepherds who would lay down their life as in the case of the numerous martyrs who died protecting the Blessed Sacrament.

If a convicted sex offender offered to babysit your daughter I would not fault you for refusing him to protect what you hopefully value more than being popular.
