Your comment’s borderline abusive. However, I’ll let it stand in the interests of seeing if this can generate a discussion.

What sources do you consult when you’re trying to arrive at the truth of something?

Try answering without invective.

If you have a "source" then you have fallen into the trap and already lost. I use a critical thinking technique, much like Sherlock Holmes. Sources are everywhere, and a source today could be a trap tomorrow.

It’s true as far as it goes that no source is perfect. No human or group of humans has an absolute claim to the truth.

However, if you learned that some media organizations hire journalists who are trained in how to separate reliable from unreliable information, and bound by a professional code of ethics — and that they print retractions and apologies when errors come to light — and that they fire journalists who are found to have fabricated or grossly misrepresent stories — would you trust that media source over a source that didn’t have those practices? (For example, a guy in a basement with access to a meme generator but with no particular expertise or access to primary sources or training or ethical duties?)

"Media organizations hire journalists"
Journalists work for media organizations to push media organizations agendas, even if journalists wanted to give unbiased reports of an event, they are beholden to their employer. A story might align with the media's agenda one day and you may get the whole truth, but the next day it may not.

Are there any specific instances over the past two years you can think of that, as you say, a “source” became a “trap”?

What was it and how did you know?

Covid being from a wet market, people fell for that garbage, now its common knowledge it came from a lab. Also Dr f**ki investing in that lab, sometimes it's what the media isn't telling you that's important.
