It’s true as far as it goes that no source is perfect. No human or group of humans has an absolute claim to the truth.
However, if you learned that some media organizations hire journalists who are trained in how to separate reliable from unreliable information, and bound by a professional code of ethics — and that they print retractions and apologies when errors come to light — and that they fire journalists who are found to have fabricated or grossly misrepresent stories — would you trust that media source over a source that didn’t have those practices? (For example, a guy in a basement with access to a meme generator but with no particular expertise or access to primary sources or training or ethical duties?)
