The Supreme Court is expanding the notion that self-described “religious” people or organizations can deny service to gays. Why? | The “religion vs. gay rights” framing of the LGBTQ debate is erroneous. The ability to discriminate isn’t a thing that goes up or down depending on how much you pray. Discrimination is discrimination, period. If you can’t do it to a black or an interracial couple, then you can’t do it to a gay couple. Your right to practice your religion ends wherever it results in the actionable disenfranchisement of others. | image tagged in scumbag scotus, scotus, gay rights, catholic church, law, discrimination | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I don't get why a couple of books is used as an excuse to discriminate.

Because a religious person/group has as much a right to live in accordance with their views as LGBTQ+ has to foster care.

The Court ruling did in no way impact the ability of LGBTQ+ outside of their dealings with SPECIFICALLY Catholic organizations. At that point the case crossed the line from disenfranchisement of LGBTQ+ folks to disenfranchisement of Catholics specifically.

You really think a 9-0 ruling would have been the result when folks like Justice Roberts, notably pro-LGBTQ+ as evinced by decisions like Obergefell v. Hodges, voted in favor of us Catholics?
