My local cafe gets fifty applicants for every job they post so I don't know what problem yours is having. I can only assume word must have gone round that they weren't great to work for.

Somewhere between that ridiculous Unemployment Insurance + $300 and those who now like to get paid good money to work/snore from home, the 1.5 million hires expected in May hit under the 400 thousand mark.
Everything from food service to the TSA is looking at a dire worker shortage as business reopen.

- In the USA, anyways.

Ignore the troll, the weak minded left always paints the world with large brushes, all whites are racist, all Trump supporters etc. They will never admit the failures of biden and his handlers or that Trump was right about everything. The help wanted signs are not a lie and every business looking for employees scattered across a country as large as this one is not the result of horrible bosses. Even considering that as a cause is beyond stupid. We all know stolen elections can only bring trouble and I think most of us know the next few years will end the USA as a superpower, we are in decline and leaderless.

Perhaps I got a little ornery about it, but it was different view on the subject, so calling "troll" isn't exactly as I would put it.
I get typified as "Left" or "Right" by whomever I'm disagreeing with at the moment, so boiling it down to that isn't something I'd tend to resort to.

Trends outside anyone's control left things a mess since 2020 - Trump left with it as one and Biden walked in with it as one. Time will tell how he handles it, though to say I'm far from impressed is being kind.

Heard some talk last night about some (Red) States cutting off this Unemploment Insurance increase so that their economies can start moving again, best moves in regard to this quagmire I've seen. Kudos to them for having some guts.

My comment was not about you, the troll knew who I meant. I did not think Trump got a fair shake, covid wasn't fault nor was the lefts attempts to crush the economy to lower his chances of a reelaction. Biden otoh has been a disaster, try as he might every idea has been a failure. I do not think it is all on him but any president needs a good staff and his are not up to the job.

I know who you were saying about, it's just that I (usually) do get along with that person and may have seemed more negative in approach here than I should have been.

The thing about the economy though is that it was pretty much world wide, and still continuing.
I wouldn't blame what happened on Trump, but even he said he wasn't big on a response because he "didn't want to create a panic," and his reaction to the pandemic still has its repercussions, with many taking measures to combat it as a partisan issue instead of a health one.
A glut of goods last year leading to a shortage this year and the accompanying inflation isn't Biden's doing, but his spending spree actions and proposals are ludicrous, and will exacerbate the current situation instead of correcting it in coming months. His swing to farther left when he was supposed to be more moderate is a disconcerting. We need stability and a return to normalcy, not forays into unpaid for territories when we're trying just to recover.

I agree with you on the two presidents and their approaches both failed, although I did much better under Trump because I never stopped working. I never got any stimulus or any extra hours so Biden has done zero for me, others I know love being at home and getting paid to stay there. My income has dropped because of rising prices and shortages. In the end, the rich will always have what they need. Dem or rep in office really only means how much extra the rich will have. The working class and the freeloader class will always be at the mercy of parties that only pretend to care about them and even then only during an election season.

The fine art of shaking hands and kissing screaming babies but only till Election Day.

While many people got in dire straights last year, I didn't get the purpose of increasing the amount recieved in Unemployment Insurance, as people lose jobs all the time and have to make due with what they recieve during normal times, and if their lot doesn't approve, then Welfare is their option.
While it sounds cold, businesses forced to close - some never to reopen or sold instead - is of more concern for the long run. It was through no fault of their own, and aid seemed insufficient for those needing the most.
In the least, those ordering their closing should have given up their own paychecks instead of patting themselves on the back for rule by decree from the comfort of their throne. We had weird scenes here, like restaurants reopening in Nassau County while those across the street in Queens had to remain shuttered because dunderheads Cuomo and DeBlasio deemed it so.

I hope things get better for you soon, as tomorrow just keeps stretching away for so many.

The current focus on helping new arrivals and small families does forget the small business owners, self employed and the elderly, after this long, no one can believe forgetting to help all of them was an accident. Without helping everyone inside the country any help at all amounts to very little. Too little too late. Our government likes simple solutions but they do not work. You can not build walls and no roof and call it a home.

Thank you for your concern for my situation but it is not needed, I am still working, still paying bills and my blessing far out number my problems. I was taught to expect problems and always have a plan, save money, work hard, learn to build repair and make things, barter, trade or borrow what I need. Which party sits in power might tick me off but they can not change or own me.

The TSA was NEVER an enjoyable job. People have been saying that for decades.

Yeah, except somewhere between some 2020 plague shutdown thingy and the appropriate adjustments in the number of people employed to work in affected industries that shutdown a lot in said shutdown and folks even less eager to sign up than ever before they're more than just saying it.

The pain. It's real. It's damn real.

Again, MANY employers are reporting that they're having no trouble at all filling their vacancies.

Turns out that the ones you're talking about were the ones who weren't worth working for to begin with.

I can't tell if we're on the same side or not.

Which is probably a good thing, actually. If we agree on some things but disagree on others, that's actually how the world SHOULD work, which means you're a regular person, not a weirdo with something to prove.

Sides have the curious habit of changing boots when the need arises, oft steel toed for greater enhancement.
Allies have the wonderful ability to turn into our worst foes at the speed of retracted high five, which is why the latter tends to consist of more (former) friends and family than it does the 'those' people.

Meanwhile the truth can be found ambling along on Route 66, having a good chuckle.

And it's not rocket science, for Christ's sakes.

Yeah, your delightful MacHenry's Pub & Teahouse in booming Upper Northwest Glockindemn (Tuesday is Curried Haggis Night, so come on down!) anecdote is totes convincing, but I'm in a weird mood... I dunno, a mood for.... for... ah, yes! for them statistics thingies down to the last .01 you so much are known for.

Cuz that's the way I roll.

Well here you go, roll with this. You're saying that the circle on the right is a labour shortage. And, not really, there's not much actual evidence to think so. It's not like unemployment insurance is that much to compete against - it's only an issue for businesses that would pay their staff nothing at all if they could.

Gaagh, you were sooooooooo close on this, and I mean that *pats head*

I hate to strain you, but I was referring more to job openings & expected hires vs those slots filled - somewhat-ish.

So "there's a worker shortage if you just ignore the job openings where there isn't a worker shortage"? Is that where we're at now?
0 ups, 3y
Your somewhat questionable (50 applicants every day?) anecdote regarding one single place people can work off the books and still get their pip in some obscure impoverished Scottish village with barely over 50 people living in it doesn't mean squat - your own extended sabbatical being proof of a more tangible sort pertaining to your fanfic labor shortage.

You should be embarrassed to post such babble, but you're not, are you?
Goodness, what happened to you, you went from someone who used to post actual data sprinkled with (albeit droll) humor on memes with heavy traffic to pathetic fourth rate trolling of the bitterest sort mostly yammering on the memes of newbs in obscure corners who don't even bother to reply.
And this is in celebration of that tool, Biden, that you cheered, no less.
