Seeing as how "communism" now simply means the absence of antisocial personality and oppositional defiant disorders, I've supported it for a long time.

I support the political and economic advancement of average people. I support lowering the outrageous wealth inequality we’re seeing these days.

However, I don’t think it’s possible or even desirable to try to make everyone perfectly “equal.” Brain surgeons are always going to make more than janitors in my ideal society.

If that makes me anti-social, so be it ;)

My understanding is that everyone should be equal before the law, not that everyone should own the same amount of property.

Besides, how does one measure the value of a human life? How much their work contributes to the GDP? Sounds kinda collectivist to me.

Even the value of property is subjective, as checking to prices of any item online will demonstrate.

Nobody wants the exact same things as someone else. That doesn't mean that corporate CEOs should be paid 1000 times what their workers are, because they wouldn't have a company without workers.

Right — I would consider the push for equality under the law for all to be the perfection of democracy, not necessarily communism.

Communism concerns itself more with economics and material things as I understand it.

And mainstream American politics contains a lot of movement toward legal equality, even if it doesn’t always live up to its own ideals.

My understanding of communism is that nothing is owned by anyone and the state "withers away." No property, no government.

there will always be government, there will always be property, but there should'nt be unnecessary suffering caused by uncaring corporations wanting to increase profit, people need respect, people need care.

my ideal society has institutions that help people in poverty, a good minimum wage that would let a person live their life to the fullest, and a society that tolerates all people, as we all are humans,
this is not communism, this is humanism

I agree. While I believe in many of the tenets of socialism, I don't believe communism can exist.
