Everyone should be given another chance. What's the point of punishing someone if we expect them not to learn? Why learn from your mistakes when society doesn't allow you to be an equal member again?

We already punish minor criminals too harshly. The assumption is that there is more crime when we are more lenient. The truth is, there is more crime when people are more desperate. Eliminate the source of people's desperation, and you'll reduce crime.

Yes. Even if we look at it through the lens of cold pragmatism it is smart. If someone can't honestly have their needs met they will just go back to crime.

Depends on the crime. If they get out after pedophilia, HEEEELLLL NO. If it’s for a petty crime like cat burglary or theivory, sure.

I mean, they shouldn't be let out of jail early. You shouldn't deny somebody a job because of a criminal record, because then they have a reason to be mad at you, mad at the world, mad at themself. A criminal record is like a scar, it shows what happened in your life, and K wouldn't want that changed. If someone was arrested for armed robbery, they might be congratulated on becoming a better person. But no one congratulates someone on being average.
