Making a stand when others are less willing to risk it is admirable, but being disrespectful or expressing disdain in a manner that can be termed "racist" is pushing the wrong boundaries.
I'm no fan of Pelosi, but AOC pulling an Al Franken when she stepped into that chamber was inappropriate. Not saying she should have cow towed to the establishment, but when becoming part of an old organization like Congress, long established ways don't go out the window because someone new wants to reconfigure it to their liking. The should learn what the deal is before yapping about it.
The cabbage thing was racist, and ignorant as well. Sheesh, she advocated growing plantains and yucca in Bronx community gardens - tropical plants that aren't grown in them for a reason.
"I don't get why she complains. Both her parents did well and she grew up in a 90% white upper class neighborhood. You'd think she'd be for traditional values if her family could become a success, through I'd imagine merit."
That may explain some of her resentment, as someone of Puerto Rican background would have been reminded of it in a 90% white upper class neighborhood in not quite the friendliest of ways. Things would have changed as she got older, but her earlier experiences would have left her with a perspective that cannot be changed, no matter how much she wished it could.
What we call "traditional values" is determined by what is in vogue tomorrow. Her grandparents' world would have made today's so-called "Conservatives" look like corn syrup pickled Hippies on crack.
