Before cameras, they a system of little plated films and a small hole in a dark room that projected an image onto the film. The film was then affected by this and "froze" the image through the hole. This wasn't considered a camera, but I think that is how they took a picture of this one if they didn't already make two. I had a photography class talking abt it.
