Once again we Catholics accomplished in the early 15th century what is still a contentious issue today.

Or get an abortion, or be believed when they talk about being sexually assaulted...

Being denied the ability to terminate a developing human being is not comparable to being denied the chance to excel in a combat role.

We have a court system that does a remarkably good job of ensuring criminals are properly investigated and then punished if need be. I can't just accuse someone of being a rapist and then expect to be believed. That sort of accusation requires serious and extensive investigation before we potentially ruin someone's life.

Wow, to think that someone would make such misogynistic comments in a stream called "Anti-Sexism!" You value the life of a potential human, but not the women who die or are crippled because they can't get a medically necessary abortion. Or the women who have had their lives ruined by sexual violence. It's the 21st century; has your church started ordaining women yet? This meme is a joke.

Furthermore, the meme was solely focused on women in combat roles, which is entirely fit for this stream. You are the one who broke away from that focus. Therefore I reject the notion that this meme is a joke; it was entirely fit and proper.

But hey, if you sleep better because a Catholic meme was unfeatured, good on you I guess.

Strawmanning again I see. I'm anti-oppression not anti-Catholic. You ignored the issue of ordination.

It's not a strawman, good grief. Again, I made a meme focused on a singular issue. You are the one trying to expand that focus and I don't see the point here.

This meme is propaganda designed to make the Catholic church look progressive towards women. It's like a Protestant saying that Jim Jones was a big-hearted minister who helped black people in many ways & didn't mention that he also ended up killing them.

I probably bear some responsibility here; your meme offended me the 1st time I saw it & I really should have removed it right away. I didn't because it was yours & back then I thought you meant well. You have since shown me who you really are: someone who doesn't care about history or women or even genocide as much as you care about your church's reputation. So no more special favors from me; you're just a stranger who makes memes on this site. Sure, losing a privilege is annoying but you'll live.

Given you've crossed the line from conscientious objection to blatantly false and offensive personal attacks against me and my Faith, I'm going to block you. I'm always happy to have a civil and constructive dialogue, and I've shown here that I'm perfectly willing to condemn the Church any time it deserves to be condemned. However, whenever I stick up for it you seem to flip your lid and launch into these objectionable and downright hurtful assaults that are not only incorrect (I have condemned any legitimate wrong that has come up in our discussions), but seem more geared towards feeding your own feelings about the Church, not facts that are actually relevant to the situation.

With that, the mute button has been enabled. Sorry we couldn't see eye-to-eye, but I can only stand so much BS from anyone.

Sloth is the one who told me to put this here, so take that one as you will I suppose.

If you want to limit the argument regarding abortion to those medically necessary to save the woman then I'm happy to do so. However, those operations are a very small percentage of abortions and as such I tend to discount them unless the focus is specifically shifted to that.

I never said women who suffered from sexual violence should be denied any support they require.

Sexual violence is an egregious wrong. But you don't fix a wrong by committing another wrong.
