Well, Taiwan does have their own national football football team. Not a very good one, but neither is China.

Even the United States government doesn't recognize Taiwan as a country with their "one China" policy.

We were allies of the Chinese Nationalists (group in power before being forced to evac to Taiwan) looooooong before the CCP started causing problems in China.
