The difference is the libertarians didn't cause it. They were just the first to see it. That's why the party was created.

My 2 favorite comedies are The Holy Grail and Young Frankenstein. I should have changed back when I found out there's another Abby Normal here. He changed his to The Original Abby Normal and then to A Guy Named Abby Normal. Now he can go back to being just Abby Normal if he wants. He spelled Abby without an E.

Aye. Holy Grail is high on my list; not sure if it's my top pick for favorite comedy. I've yet to see Young Frankenstein

I also like the 1st Ghostbusters a lot. Airplane is the only movie that ever literally made me laugh out of my seat back when I saw it at the theater. I almost hit the floor but caught myself. I never knew that was even possible until it happened to be.

Another favorite is Raising Arizona.

I need to see Ghostbusters again. I remember liking it a lot. I was thinking about Airplane just today, and remembering quite a few of its jokes. I've still yet to see Raising Arizona. Seems to be that there are a lot of these classic comedies.

The Jerk, in my opinion, is Steve Martin's funniest movie. Roxanne and All of me are good comedies but they are more of a mainstream comedy where The Jerk is entirely Steve Martin. LA Story is more of a Steve Martin but it isn't quite as screwball as The Jerk plus unless you grew up in the Los Angeles metro (which I did) you might not fully appreciate some of the humor. It is totally Steve Martin humor but I think this was Steve Martin's answer to Woody Allen's New York Stories.

I'm out of replies already on your last comment?? Anyway, I've watched all of the Naked Gun movies as well.

They did fill it wall to wall with funny stuff. Most of the time it is just stuff going on in the background that you might otherwise miss. I've seen the series several times and I'll bet there are still a bunch of stuff that I've missed.

Yeah, Imgflip's system is a bit broken

Nice! I've yet to see the third. Need to rewatch though

I should watch The Jerk, in that case. It sounds interesting, though you are right in that I'm not the biggest fan of screwball comedy.

Raising Arizona is a Coen Brother's movie. Now that there are a ton of them already out there Raising Arizona might not hold up will compared to something like Oh Brother, Where Art Thou or any of their other comedies. When I first saw it it was the only Coen Brother's movie I knew about until Hudsucker Proxy came out. Hudsucker Proxy was not as good as Raising Arizona but it is still worth watching.

I also forgot another one of my all time favorites, Steve Martin's "The Jerk". I loved that movie.

Ahh, that makes sense. I haven't seen "The Jerk" either. A movie I'm familiar with that is comedic and from the 80s is The Naked Gun. You may have heard of it. One of my favorite aspects about that movie is that it filled every minute of screen-time with comedy.

The Jerk is more inline with the type of humor that Steve Martin did as a stand up comic. He doesn't use any of his jokes in the movie, that I am aware of. As far as I know he didn't pull material from his stand up comic days and put it in a movie. It is just similar humor. If you ever saw a video of Steve Martin doing stand up then you might have an idea of the type of humor to expect.

I thought Martin was hilarious as a stand up comic but my oldest brother could not stand him. I also thought Robin Williams was hilarious as a stand up comic when I first saw him (on TV, I haven't actually been to their stand up shows). After awhile I did grow tired of Williams stand up type of comedy. However, both made some really outstanding movies and both have even done well in non-comedy roles.

Anyway, I really liked The Jerk. I also liked his Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid movie as well but then I'm I guess I'm easily amused.

When I lived in the LA area my wife and I went to see a play that Steve Martin wrote called Pablo Picasso at the Lapin Agile. I believe that was the funniest thing that Steve Martin has ever done. He wasn't in the play, he just wrote it. It is the imaginary meeting of Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein and it all about which is more important to mankind, art or science. And then Elvis shows up at the end.

I see. That makes sense. Stand up isn't something I often visit, so I'll have a look.
