I agree that this should be known as the “ok” symbol, but the reason this is happening is because some people use it as the “white power” symbol rather than the “ok” symbol
the "some people" excuse to justify something, because it can't be measured and does not provide a fact. I think everyone can agree that Elon intention was not to display "white power".
