My ancestors were European, but I grew up in Los Angeles county, and have eaten Mexican food, heard Mexican music, and had Spanish words in my vocabulary since I was a kid. Does that count as cultural appropriation or transcultralism?
if you're just getting drunk and don't know what the holiday means and don't carry out the holiday in a way that shows you get it, yeah, it leans on mayonnaise :)
I don't even get drunk. I get Mexican food from one Mexican owned restaurant or another, and try to treat the people with the respect they deserve as people who are providing me with a meal.
You know, when I'm out driving and some Hispanic workers are on the road near me playing mariachi on their radio, I get cravings for beans and guacamole. Culture isn't as simple as people on the political spectrum tend to think.
