Here’s a graph of average income in the US. To the right of the green line is when a Republican took office.

First credit for using an actual site for your graph. I mostly expected crap from right wing conspiracy sites that had no actual information.

That said, here are a bunch of links for you.

There’s plenty more. And just think how well we would have done if the republicans hadn’t blocked everything Obama tried to do and are attempting to block today. If you ain’t rich, you only matter to them when it comes time to vote. That’s why their only message is social issues and nothing about actual governing.

Then why is it that in 2016 most of the rich votes went to Hillary over Trump and even less voted for Trump in 2020 than 2016?

As for the evonomics site, you’ll notice they argue that free market policies are better for the economy, and I agree. However, they leave out important details. There’s no publication date but if it came out recently then shame on them for leaving out very important data from the past few years that challenges their points. If it came out earlier, what they still need to address is that more and more in this day and age Democrats are adopting big government economics, a trend that started with FDR. Speaking of FDR, there’s a link about him right below here. A good comparison to see current Democrat economics vs Republican economics is Obama vs Trump. Both faced an economic crisis, but 2 very different recoveries ensued. Pre recession the unemployment rate was 4.4%. When Obama took office it was at 7.8%, and peaked at 10% 9 months later. After 2 terms of Obama the lowest it got to was 4.8%. That’s 8 years and still not a full recovery. And if you look at the peak until when he left office he decreased the unemployment by 52% over the course of 8 years. Now let's compare that to Trump's recovery from 2020 covid lockdowns. At it's peak the unemployment rate was at 14.8%. Trump decreased that by 58% in 8 months. Not 8 years, 8 MONTHS. That's a better recovery percentage, from a worse starting point, in 1/12 the amount of time.

The Jec senate article is old, so once again it doesn’t measure recent data. Here’s links with more updated information.

“Another way to look at this debate is to consider what the presidents had to deal with during their terms. That's one reason why the Democrats did slightly better. Presidents Johnson, Carter, and Clinton didn't have recessions. The only Republican president who can say that is Trump until 2020. All other presidents had to contend with some of the worst recessions in U.S. history.”

Let's get back to the original question. Name one piece of legislation the republicans enacted in the last twenty years that was aimed at helping people that weren't already rich? Healthcare? Nope. Tried kill it for years. Wages? Ha!, Affordable housing? Never. Kick kids of nutritional programs? Hell yeah!, Try to deny groups they don't like the rights everyone is suppose to enjoy? Big check there. Infrastructure? Don't make me laugh. Nixon created the EPA and the republicans have been trying for years to destroy it. They hate social security because they hate paying taxes. So what if old people have nothing to live on after retirement right? Shall I go on?

The republicans believe government doesn't work and then get elected to make sure it doesn't. Makes me wonder why they are so happy to get paid for doing nothing.

One piece of legislation in the past 20 years? Ok so that leaves me only Bush and Trump to pull from. Let's see, there's the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act in 2001, and Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act in 2003 under Bush. Trump signed an executive order to make it easier for businesses to offer retirement plans, he signed an executive order on Modernizing the Regulatory Framework for Agricultural Biotechnology Products, which is bringing new technologies to market in farming and agriculture, he invested over $1.3 billion through the Agriculture Department’s ReConnect Program, and his zero tolerance immigration policy which, love it or hate it, is not a business friendly policy. In the 1980s it was shown that an increase in immigration, particularly from latin America, hurts American workers. After all the Cuban refugees arrived in the US, average wages for a worker in Florida with just a high school diploma dropped by 30%. Cesar Chavez himself also knew that as long as there is a poor country bordering the US, immigrants from there will always be willing to work for less, thus hurting American workers but helping big business.

The results of Bush's policies have been great success until the debt catches up. Here's the results under Trump: 7 million jobs added – more than three times government experts’ projections, middle class family income increased almost $6,000 – more than five times the gains during Obama’s administration, lowest unemployment rate in half a century, 40 months in a row with more job openings than job hirings, incomes rose in every single metro area for the first time in 3 decades, income inequality fell for two straight years and by the largest amount in over a decade, the bottom 50 percent of American households saw a 40 percent increase in net worth, wages rose fastest for low income and blue collar workers – a 16 percent pay increase, Black American homeownership increased from 41.7 percent to 46.4 percent created over 1.2 million manufacturing and construction jobs, small business optimism broke a 35 year record in 2018, hit record stock market numbers and record 401ks, during the third quarter of 2020 the economy grew at a rate of 33.1 percent – the most rapid GDP growth ever recorded, jobs have been recovered 23 times faster than Obama’s recovery, household net worth rose $7.4 trillion in 2020 to $112 trillion an all-time high, business confidence is higher in America than in any other G7 or European Union country, passed $3.2 trillion in historic tax relief and reformed the tax code, a typical family of four earning $75,000 received an income tax cut of more than $2,000, since the passage of tax cuts the share of total wealth held by the bottom half of households has increased while the share held by the top 1 percent has decreased, approximately 1 million Americans will be lifted from poverty as a result of new investments, and Americans saved nearly 10% on prescription drugs.
