My opinion: the media made it a point to start reporting on this stuff last year after Trump and others said China virus. Here we are a year later and the attacks that are happening aren't generated by Trump but by individuals (mostly black) that have been attacking all along. Now the narrative, as u said, doesn't call for it (but I have seen it reported in the last month).

They pick the narrative...black lives only matter if cops involved.
Asian lives only matter if stemmed from Trump or Conservatives.
