Interesting article. All the same, it seems absurd that anyone would go to the trouble of placing the props and MOVING INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT just so they can fool the system. I mean, seriously. I know the point of the experiment was to show that Autopilot isn't infallible, as far as making sure a driver is present, but apparently the car accelerated, drove itself around the track quite a few times without any kind of incident, and stopped in a completely safe manner. I can't quite wrap my head around why people are making a big deal out of this.

I think autonomous vehicles are still a little ways away personally. And I understand your position. My thought would be when people are able to beat the system things are found that can be corrected, so it has the possibility of making it safer for everyone.

No mistake. I'm not ready for self driving cars either, I prefer the real feel of the wheel. Might buy a used Tesla in the next few years, but that's mostly because I want to try electric. Not that I'd want to spend the extra 10 grand on an advanced driver assist mechanism anyway. It seems like overkill since I can totally drive myself. I mean, I'm not THAT old yet.

Staying out of trouble? I can toast to that! Of course it would help if I had the clinking glasses emoji, but I usually log in from my desktop nowadays. Upvotes and rainbows forever :D

When you get your Tesla don't forget about the cost of getting the charger installed, and as you mentioned the cost of the advanced driver which is not cheap either. Just making a point, I have nothing against them. I have several friends that own Tesla's and they seem quite happy. And I have no doubt that you have the capacity to drive yourself.
