First of all, if a bird hits it’s engine, it will be fine. Second, you don’t want to be in a slow ass bomber just asking for flak.

Modern bombers no longer need to be tanks. Modern warfare prioritizes getting to a battle and having a bunch of bombs more than surviving weapons the enemy does not have.
