I'm being the prosecutor and saying it is acceptable to call copper: orange, and copper is indeed classified under orange. Copper is a shade of orange, Copper is a tint of brown. Btw the ISCC-NBS descriptor is what the color would be called in basic terms. The two common types of copper are told as orange (with the first having some red in it)

Copper is it's own color, yes. But that doesn't change the fact it's a shade of orange. We don't call forest green, forest green specifically. We still normally call it green, despite it being a darker shade of green. (Much like how copper is a darker shade of orange)

I didn't say we call copper, copper orange. I said we could call it orange.
Another example, high blue vs blue. High blue is a tint of blue, but we call it blue nonetheless. (The picture is a picture of the color "high blue")
Same with some people calling "maroon": "red"
Which is acceptable, it's a reddish color (and a shade of it), it's acceptable for people to call it red despite it being it's own color
