I mean...personally I'd rather we all pay EQUAL taxes at an EQUAL rate.

Seems like the closest we could get to equality.

(Obviously there would be an exemption for anyone who doesn't make enough to break through the poverty line.)

I agree though I think the first 20k shouldn't be taxed.

I'm not sure if that's above or below the poverty line in all places, since it can vary heavily by county.

Simply put, that sounds great and all, but that just favours rich people, who have to pay less, and screws over middle class people, who have to pay more.

No, everyone pays the same percentage. Rich get to keep more because they earn more. ANYONE who works more gets more take home-pay, not just a free trip to a new tax bracket because Uncle Same wants more of your money.

A flat tax is the only form of financial equality that actually meets the definition of equality. Anything else is just financial affirmative action.

Correct, yes. A flat rate of 10% would be my ideal tax level.
