The United States rules for who can call themselves a “news” station are pretty lenient. The percentage and truth that has to be told isn’t a high threshold, so basically, as long as fox reports on the weather, global events, and human interest stories, they have fulfilled their obligation to the FCC. Anything they talk about politics or politicians is absolutely opinion. There was a study done about 2 years ago from a professor that teaches media. He asked the same 5 questions to groups of people. They were viewers of CNN, MSNBC, NPR,FOX,NEWSMAX, and a group that watches no news at all. The group that watched no news at all were able to correctly answer the questions at a higher rate than the viewers of fox and newsmax. Which means that watching no news at all , they were more in touch with reality than those that got their news from right wing nonsense sources. Think about that. NPR and BBC viewers scored the highest, then cnn n msnbc, then folks that watched no news. Then at the bottom we’re fox, newsmax.
