Don't scoff...the A-10 is one of the best aircraft designs in the world. It has performed remarkabley. It does what it was designed to do and it does it exceedingly well.

No doubt. One of the best. But it is severely limited to low altitude close ground support. What tankers are you talking about? Surely not at sea? You mean tanks? It's known as a tank killer. It is a survivor though.

The aircraft was designed for close support and as I indicated, it has performed that role exceedingly well. It wasn't designed to be a fighter or high- altitude performer.
The sad thing is that the air force tried to kill it on the design table, those morons.

Apparently it is too useful and cost-effective. Better to line the pockets with cash cows like the F35 and that high-tech frigate that keeps conking out. $21 trillion missing from Pentagon budget, but Russia has S-500, new cost-effective EW fighter jets, missiles that take out any carrier, and torpedoes that can take out coastal cities.
