The Constitution says the presidency and House of Representatives are elected offices, and amended to say that the Senate is well.

Elected office means democracy. Democracy = people vote. Republic = there's no king. We're both.

That actually depend on how the election takes place. States appointing people whom then vote for the president for example, is not democracy.

Constitution > Feelings

Although we have aspects of both, there are some things even a democracy cannot undo. Like our amendments. This is more of a constitutional republic as which it was founded as. Trying to use “democracy” to destroy the constitution is exactly what our founding fathers expected to happen eventually- which is why they made it so Go***mn hard to change. Democrats are going to make the attempt anyways - as they always do.

Democracy means people vote. Republic means there's no king. We're both and have been from the start.

Right we the people vote for our own representatives. We can’t vote on abolishing amendments or the constitution. So it’s not a full democracy of the people. The constitution has the ultimate authority over us which will protect our freedom against those that “represent” us.

We've been a full democracy for about sixty years now and it was completely in line with the Constitution to get us there but nontheless, we were always a democratic republic from the beginning. Our head of state was someone that can be voted out by people who are not aristocracy. That's what democracy means. Republic just means our head of state was not a king.

I mean, believe what you wish - but we are mostly a constitutional republic.

AND a democracy. Democracy means people vote. We have elections. That does not happen in an oligarchic Republic like medieval Venice where the leadership was a closed system with no input from any citizenry at all. Democracy means people can vote. We are a democracy. Democratic republic is are ams us.

Just because you say it again doesn’t make it correct. We are a republic founded under a constitution, therefore a constitutional republic. Democrats HATE the constitution so they want us to believe we are a full-blown democracy, which is false.

Plus, democracy is dead after this election. If you still believe “the people” pick the president after this swath of voter irregularities, there is no further argument to be had.

Republic just means there's no king. That's it. That's ALL it means.

We implemented our republic WITH A DEMOCRACY. Our head of state is elected. Not autocratic. Not dictated. Not appointed by an enclave of dukes. Elected. We're a democracy. That's what it means.

Republic is a what. Democracy is a how.

We are a democracy and always have been.

........And yet the British system would still comply with your definition of a Republic WHICH IT ISN'T THEREBY MAKING YOUR DEFINITION INVALID
1 up, 4y
Well, I guess you’re going to have to take it up with the founding fathers because they created a constitutional republic.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sure, you are free to think anyway you see fit. Doesn’t make you right though.

It's the dictionary definition of the word. It's the literal translation from ancient Greek: demo-cracy literally means people vote. People decide. Rule by citizenry. So yes, I'll say it a fourth time, and a fifth, and sixth - democracy means people vote.

It's y'all that made up a false definition that you reinforce by repetition alone.

Quote: “A constitutional republic is a type of government in which the officials are elected by the people. The republic must govern according to the laws of the constitution, and its actions are subject to judicial review. Although many people consider it a democracy, the United States is actually a constitutional republic.”

Plato said it best: “Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy.”

Makes sense that the Democrats would love to remove the electoral college and filibuster- since it would allow the majority to control the minority. Hence why the constitution is in place.

Britain has a government in which the officials are elected by the people.

BUT IT'S NOT A REPUBLIC, IS IT? IT HAS A QUEEN.

Your definition is NOT CORRECT.
1 up, 4y
Right, believe it or not - our founding fathers were English. They managed to identify and implement a similar type of government WITHOUT the tyranny. Hence a constitutional republic.

No, see, using the correct definition of these words when you demonstrably use the incorrect definitions DOES make me right. It actually make me the ONLY one who's right in this argument.
1 up, 4y
Sure bud. The more you say it, the more right you get. Maybe if you say it louder, too. Maybe stomp your feet? Lay on the ground and flail around while scream-crying. I’m not sure. Either way, it’s a constitutional republic.
