New bill 4 Congress

New bill 4 Congress | NEW BILL FOR CONGRESS TO VOTE ON! VOTING TEMPLATE IN COMMENTS. NOTE THAT THEY ARE TURNED ON... THE MINORITY REPORT ACT [CONGRESSIONAL BILL 6.9]; THIS BILL HELPS TO DISCOURAGE HATEFUL TROLLING FROM CERTAIN BAD ACTORS WHO WANT TO POST A CONTROVERSIAL OPINION OR ATTACK AD, BUT NOT ALLOW THE PEOPLE THEY'RE GOING AFTER A CHANCE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.
THIS TYPE OF STALINIST "ONE RULE FOR ME, ONE RULE FOR THEE" BEHAVIOR IS PERFECTLY LEGAL ON IMGFLIP. IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE ON THE PRESIDENT'S STREAM, WHICH ENCOURAGES POLITICAL RP DEBATE. ●THIS BILL OUTLAWS TURNING OFF THE COMMENTS ON MEMES IN THE IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS STREAM. IT MAKES AN EXCEPTION FOR SITE MODS, THAT RARELY HAVE TO TURN OFF COMMENTS DUE TO TOS VIOLATIONS.
●MEMES WITHOUT COMMENTS CAN BE FLAGGED AND REMOVED FOR BEING AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF POLITICAL RP IN THE PRESIDENT'S STREAM.
●THIS BILL DOESN'T PUNISH, BAN OR DIMINISH BAD ACTORS THAT CANNOT HANDLE THE COMMENTS THAT ARE BOUND TO RESULT FROM ATTACK ADS. THEY CAN SIMPLY POST THOSE MEMES IN THEIR OWN STREAMS, NOT HERE.
●CONTRARY TO POPULAR OPINION, NO COMMENT SECTION ON A NEGATIVE MEME DOESN'T DISCOURAGE DRAMA OR HATEFUL TROLLING. INSTEAD IT IS THE DICTIONARY DEFINION OF TROLLING AS IT IS A HIT AND RUN ATTACK. 6.9 | image tagged in imgflip, president, congress, bill, bill 69 | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

LOL glad you included me even though I'm just the SOD.

I didn't have a lot of the people's avatars. But since you're a knight it's real easy to find your avatar. Plus your job includes defending the stream from trolls, just like the bill.

you could say turning off comments is violating free speech, (even though it isn't) but this law would also be doing that. just because you don't agree with turning off comments doesn't mean that should be outlawed. it was used for users that are sick of harassment, and we should respect those decision.

That's cool. But I still made the bill.
Exactly one person on here has the lack of balls necessary to make attack ads against me and then turn off comments. [Old Randy...]
He's not the most popular person on imgflip right now. So the bill will pass easily, get vetoed and I'll continue to be a member of a stand around, do nothing Congress.
Oh well...

so Flagg disables comments, big deal. pisses y'all off, big deal. just block him if it pisses you off that much. but removing his right to do that, that takes it too far. there's nothing in the Constitution against disabling comments

The Constitution has no part in this until it's ratified.

Will you help my friends WhiteNat and his son return? Their free speech rights are being trampled as we speak.

You don't know what free speech IS.

This is a private company you're First Amendment doesn't apply, also Free speech does include harassment and threatening others, jackweed.

All you need to know about the legitimacy of your argument is that I left the comments on this meme, knowing I'd get my ass kicked in the comments.
And you're currently trying to kick my ass in the comments section...
Anytime you have to use free speech to take the long way around the barn and defend censorship AS FREE SPEECH, you're category wrong.
Which coincidentally is your right as an American...

I'm not the one disabling comments on memes, I'm just defending the right to.

But you used freedom of speech [IN THE COMMENTS SECTION] to defend censorship disguised as freedom of speech. Thereby making my argument for me.

Also: banning hit and runs is absolutely not violating freedom of speech, as the stream is about political RP and encourages debate.
No comments on attack ads just creates a safe space for hateful trolls and has nothing to do with speech.
The US constitution protects freedom OF speech, freedom OF religion. Not freedom FROM speech or FROM religion.
[Yes, I know this stream has nothing to do with the US constitution. I'm simply explaining constitutional law in case someone reading this is confused at my reasoning.]

Nope read the bill. More mudslinging. It just stops trolls from turning off the comments section on their attack ads. Nothing more.

I'm sick of mudslinging, personally, I think mudslinging is immature

I agree. But half the people on the stream are engaged in trolling or attack ads and that number will skyrocket in a week when people start running for [whatever.] A bill to ban everyone on the stream wouldn't stand up to any scrutiny. Who's gonna vote for it?

It’s a fun meme and a well thought-out proposal, but I vote no.

Turning comments off is a memer’s right under the provided features of Imgflip. There are all sorts of good reasons to do that — avoid trolling, getting sucked in, etc. — and those reasons are especially valid with the drama we’ve seen here lately. Enabling comments against someone’ s expressed wishes (which I’ve seen happen here) is a violation of their free speech right to make a meme with comments disabled.

Can you call someone a coward for disabling comments? Sure, that’s your free speech right.

And if someone’s comments-disabled meme bugs you that bad, then make a meme of your own to complain and link it to the “offending” meme.

I’ll vote no formally in the Congress stream.

That's good. 👍
All you need to know about the legitimacy of your argument is that you just posted your opinion IN THE COMMENTS STREAM.
