Yup. The original Marvin robot was standing in line when Arthur was filling out paperwork in the remake.

I can't say that I didn't enjoy the remake - it was very well done. Choosing Mos Def as Ford Prefect worked out pretty well also. I don't even fault them for changing things - because Douglas Adams changed things between versions, the TV show, and his authorization of the movie - he did it on purpose.

I don't think this particular instance was intended to replace a white person, I think they just wanted someone who could be funny in the role.....

I was going to do the "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," but I'm not entirely sure if that counts. It just looks at a different side of (more or less) the same issue.

I'm expecting to see some nonsense out of the next incarnation of Doctor Who - they stuck it to the fans by "reinventing" the Doctor as a woman. Then they eliminated the Christmas special. Next, I expect that they'll make the Doctor a "person of color" and make a new alien baddie that are albino nazi - because it's not completely dead yet.

Hahah, or they'll reinvent the Dalek, having them be midget nazi driving mini tanks.
