If it helps you to process this (although that requires you to first be committed to finding out what's actually going on rather than thinking you already know the answer) the research into this kind of thing shows that Republicans prefer conspiracy theories involving things like the Illuminati, while Democrats prefer conspiracy theories that involve extraterrestriala. There are variants of the flat earth doctrine that encompass both of these.

Look, as far as I can tell, you've allowed yourself to define what a liberal is and isn't by people who don't like liberals. You never want to do that! Don't ever let your perceptions of a group be defined by the exact people trying to tarnish them in the first place! Liberalism in America is a MASSIVE coalition between SEVERAL groups of people, often who don't have a lot in common at all - in contrast to hyperconservatives who are much more homogenous in their coalition.
