The advantages of the 1911 I see include: 1. Excellent trigger: The 1911 is easily tuned to a crisp and clean 4-4.5 pound trigger pull that I use in USPSA Single-Stack Division, and it can be tuned down to the 2-3 pound range for NRA Conventional Pistol ("bullseye") competition. Among its greatest assets, the 1911 trigger is one of the best in the pistol world. Designed to travel straight backward, the trigger helps keeps the sights in line during this critical stage of breaking a shot. There is no play or pivot to it, just smooth, linear travel. The 1911 is an extremely reliable pistol. I believe this to be in favor of the weapon having less “mechanical” parts than that of a Glock. The 1911's solid frame-work also adds to the overall reliability
