That’s irrelevant to the point I was making. I never blamed Cruz for the emergency. Overseeing the emergency or not, if an emergency hits a state or district for which you hold elected office, it looks callous to go on vacation when you could use your power and gravitas as an elected official to try to help your constituents. Ted Cruz could go on TV and rally support for Texas (had he not withheld support from other states in past emergencies and was scared of this obvious hypocrisy and callousness being pointed out on television). Let’s be real, Daniel: You know you’d be slaughtering any Democrat who abandoned their constituents in a blizzard, and to be quite honest, you’d have good reason to. If he had checked into a hotel in Houston (I think that’s where he lives in Texas) if he lost power, I would be okay with that, but to go to a resort in Cancun?
“Ted Cruz abandoned his constituents to go to MEXICO” is something that could very well get traction in a Republican primary. It doesn’t matter if he was formally in charge of the response or not.
