That's the infection rate for the entire US. Up until 2 days ago. That's well past the 2 week infect window for the insurection.

My question is- the DC insurection happened on Jan 6th. Then behavior of the US population changes to the point where the infection rate drops faster than it rose.

Jan 6th would be the day the Capitol was stormed, correct? I'm gonna go along with this but yes, I do believe the Jan 8th spike on Covid has A LOT to do with the Jan 6th Insurrection. Now, personally, I did not agree with what happened at the capitol and I find it awful what those people did and thought it was okay. But I mean, come one, it's a VERY large public gathering of people. There's bound to mass Covid spreading and honestly, any mass gathering of people no matter how big or small, your chance of contracting Covid for not properly social-distancing and masking and if needed, gloving(if that's a word) up. And seeing that most, if not everyone were maskless and gloveless during the riot, I'd say there were more than dozens and dozens of people Covid positive who spread it to many other people.
