It's ok but it's not nearly as good a book. Ellison is a better writer and has far more to say. Franz Fannon is amazing, too. Literature is important bc it is the best way to understand other people's point of view. Black literature in the US is excellent. Ellison really is classic.
The literary point of To kill a mocking bird is the govt executing Radley despite the absurdity of the lies. It's a book about civil rights by a white author.
Invisible Man is totally different. It is a man living through the post war period as a college student and being driven mad by the horrific nature of society and how his expectations of his conception of self and view of the world were shattered. He fails to fit in as any of the roles society asked of black men then and becomes a hermit. The narrative is just so much deeper. It's a fast read too, real page turner.
