This reminds me of "De Spaghetti-boom van Zuid-Laren" (The Spaghetti-tree of Zuid-Laren), which was a Dutch April fools joke somewhere in the 1970s or 1980s. Many people came to Zuid-Laren when that tree was mentioned in newspapers. Now I've been told they've actually put some spaghetti in the tree to make the joke complete.
