He can argue with your use of those facts as a portrayal that republicans support the KKK. That’s a blatant misrepresentation and a lie. His fact is correct. At the height of its power the KKK was supported by democrats like Bidens buddy Robert Byrd.

The reality for people like Byrd is we generally don't accept people who think like him at all these days and during his time in public life if he hadn't changed. He wouldn't have been sitting in congress for as long as he did if he didn't at least attempt to act differently to how he used to when big in the Klan.
Whether he really did change or he did feel guilt and remorse is hard to ascertain. As a politician it's hard to eliminate the likelihood that he would say anything to save his ass. But one thing is for certain if he didn't at least appear to have changed his political life would have probably been over decades earlier. Maybe that's why he even bet against Hillary in 2008 to endorse Obama as if to prove he wasn't a big racist anymore even though the Black guy hadn't done a thing for him. He would likely have been judged a racist for backing Hillary over BO even though his endorsement of her would make much more sense due to their history together.
