The purpose of Captain_Scar’s new mudslinging rule, as I see it, is to keep the stream focused on fun and ideas to improve Imgflip, and to avoid candidates for President having to answer for every single meme and comment they’ve ever posted in their entire history of using Imgflip.

It’s a clever rule, and I think the culture of the stream improved since its implementation.

I don’t know who you define as “your crew,” but yeah, PoliticsTOO gets plenty of right-wing trolling. (So does the LGBTQ stream, though I don’t mod it). And these streams get far more trolling than the conservatives or Firearm_Friendly streams. We deal with it as needed, as is our right as stream Mods to curate our stream to best serve the needs of its regular users.

PoliticsTOO is a different stream than politics. That’s why I use it, though I use both. Most other liberals use both streams too. Some only use PoliticsTOO. A few liberals on this site only use politics and I seldom or never see them on PoliticsTOO.

It’s up to them.

FWIW I also mod several other political streams, some of which have stated viewpoints, others of which don’t. The stream description will tell you what is and isn’t allowed.

You’re allowed to set whatever criteria you want to judge a presidential candidate, but most here are able to see my contributions to Imgflip beyond “trolling.”

I would prove my point by posting some of your own hate on the PoliticsToo stream and just changing the political affiliation. But it would get my account banned for racism.

Every Imgflip mod would tell you that a certain amount of censorship is necessary to ensure Imgflip does not become a platform for:

--Death threats;
--Sexual harassment;
--Pornographic content (i.e. actual depictions of bare genitalia, sexual acts, etc.);
--Insults/harassment that shade beyond mere annoyance into a pattern of abuse and stalking;
--Neo-Nazism;
--Etc. Etc.

The history of platforms that choose not to moderate content at all (or barely moderate) is not encouraging: 8chan, Parler, etc. become overrun by toxic hate and eventually find themselves providing a platform for mass shooters, movements to overthrow duly elected governments, etc.

Some modding situations fall into a gray area, present a challenge and can be fairly resolved in different ways depending on who is looking at it.

But some amount of "censorship" is welcome and necessary to keep Imgflip a fun and welcoming place for all.

Everything in moderation, no pun intended.

Pictures of full-frontal nudity (e.g. Kate Winslet’s Titanic scene) are R and aren’t allowed here on Imgflip. Frontal nudity is what I generally understand the term “nudes” to mean.

Depictions of hardcore sex are NC-17 and definitely not allowed.

Some things that I keep in mind as I mod ImgFlip’s sex-related streams with an eye toward complying with site terms.
