You may be correct about the average person on welfare. I haven't looked at the numbers in a while, but the poverty line is an entirely different matter. See most self-sufficient people don't go on welfare.

Unfortunately we are getting to the point where it'll be civil war whether we want it or not. The cause will likely be a bill passed in the federal government that makes just under half the population into 'terrorists' and tries to confiscate their firearms and round them up in camps. Listen, this will be my last comment, so do what ever you do. Abraham Lincoln was a white republican who if he came back today, would be put in the bucket of "racist whites". Lincoln was openly racist and to a degree that would be considered shocking by today's standards.
His intent was to keep the Union together, preferably with slavery still allowed, only limiting its spread to new territories.
The Emancipation Proclamation was unenforceable and was meant to be, and the three Border States that remained in the Union and territories occupied by it during the war were exempt from it.
Finally freeing the slaves after the war was for the purpose of wrecking the South's economy and thus keep it dependent on the North and thus unable to try to cecede again.
Lincoln advocated segregation as the thought of having to deal with Africans at all - let alone as equals - repulsed him immensely, his quotes on the matter are available to be read, as posted in the meme above.
