Security cameras have to always be recording 24/7 so having a high quality recording would be very expensive. Security cameras also don't need to be THAT high quality and they are much better in terms of quality today.

IF u rlly don't know y its that way, it would cost A TON OF MONEY and it would require alot of good hardware to have that much good quality footage, that is hours and hours long. Just incase u didnt know :)

color requires more data, more storage, some old cameras run on film, so there is no point for color, and even on the new ones that run on hard drives, they will have to replace the hard drives or wipe the data every few months just to use it
