I myself take the opinion that it was planned beforehand, not incited by Trump’s speech. Encouraged by his speech maybe, but not incited. Also I know you’ll bring up the 20+ times he used the word “fight” but I don’t consider that to be sufficient since politicians use the word all the time in hyperbolic sense. Plus he never refers to anyone or anything to fight, just kind of throws it out there. Beyond that what is he actually telling the audience to do? He specifically tells them to do 3 things: 1. To go to the capital and cheer on their fellow Republican senators. 2. To walk toward the capital and “peacefully and patriotically” make their voices heard. 3. To march to the capital and encourage other Republicans to have pride and boldness. If one were to just listen to the speech itself there is no call for violence in it.
Keep in mind I am not a Trump supporter. Go ahead and impeach him for all the offenses during his presidency, for corruption, and for breaking SO many other laws and his attempt to dissolve our democracy after losing an election. I’m fine with that.
