2. The Holocaust was a deliberate policy of slaughtering innocent civilians. It was logistical, programmatic, and had the ultimate explicit stated goal of eliminating all Jews (and other "undesirables") from planet earth.
To the extent the RAF bombings and the Soviet troops targeted German civilians, that was also a war crime, but it wasn't nearly as systematic. Further, these were actions carried out against enemy belligerents, not against their own populations. And even if the Allies went overboard at times, the goal of the bombings was to end the war, not to eliminate the German people as a whole.
War is hell, no doubt, and sullies even those with a righteous cause. But it's necessary sometimes to put evil in its place.
