I had the distinct advantage of learning about what was happening, by listening to an engineer deconstruct McCarthy's Unamerican attack on a Republican President who forgot more about history, leadership, and politics than he had learned. Information is inert until it is conveyed. Then it is speech. At least that is how the courts have ruled to protect the conveying of the information under the first amendment. However, if one "Yellls fire in a crowded theater," or incites a mob that destroys parts of historic buildings and poses a threat to elected officials, the First Amendment does not protect you.

Information is just words or data on paper until it is read or verbalized. We appear to agree on that. Perhaps my license in labeling it inert did not have the impact I intended.

speech and information/data are two very different things. why the 4th amendment exists. you have the right to speech. there is no obligation to respond.

data controls what inputs you recieve to your entertainment stream, news feeds, opportunities presented etc. these are also influenced through 'sponsorship'.

the fundamental privacy most people exercise with their data is the use of anonomous user names. the breach of anonominity is a breach of privacy?
