This, of course, is where his characterization comes in. I intend to make him and Dragonhelm two sides of the same coin. Dragonhelm, as I see him in my mind, is humble, compassionate, duty-oriented, and essentially a gentle giant, due to his belief in God.. However, he has low self-esteem, and is highly uncertain about the future and therefore extremely cautious. Agent Swordsman, on the other hand, is narcissistic, cold-hearted, gratification-oriented, and uses his powers to advance his personal cause, due to his agnosticism. However, he is comfortable with himself, and is more certain that nothing can go wrong, and is therefore more brazen in his actions. As their stories go along (and weave together in their third book, which their respective trilogies will share), however, Dragonhelm gains confidence in himself, and learns to rest in the certainty that G-d has everything under control, while Agent Swordsman becomes more soft, and caring towards his fellow humans, as he realizes more and more that there is a G-d who created him, and loves him unconditionally. Also, both of them are HIGHLY intelligent, which is why the government hired Agent Swordsman in the first place, alongside his initial military-like disregard for human feelings.
So, in summary, DH starts out as lawful good, AS starts out as lawful neutral, and both become neutral good in the end. Whew! That was a long explanation for why the government hired Agent Swordsman!
(I understand. I should probably go to sleep too. GN!)
